Blue Tang Inn's Sirena Azul (Blue Mermaid)
The owners of Blue Tang Inn, Curt Fisher and Bruce Paradis wanted a traditional sailboat for their guests that modeled the typical fishing boats in Belize. After some inquiry, they learned that the fishing village of Sarteneja, Belize was the place to have a boat like this built. They connected with the well-known father and son boat builders, Leonardo and Beto Munos.
The 40 foot "Blue Mermaid" is made out of hardwoods found in Belize, including Santa Maria, Bullet and Mahogany. The traditional style and quality craftsmanship was maintained. One of the owner’s son, Derek Fisher, worked closely with Leonardo and Beto to add a diesel inboard engine, bathroom and plumbing fixtures and modern window hardware and lighting. The boat has a very unique style with its cabin shape and wide beam. Beto says it was the largest wood sailboat ever built and launched in Sarteneja. Leonardo and Beto are very proud of the boat, which was named Sirena Azul, inspired by the hand carved mermaid mounted to the bow of the boat.
The boat capacity is 20 people plus 2 crew. The Following are our three sailing excursion options:
Full Day Snorkel to Hol Chan Marine Park, Shark Ray Alley and Caye Caulker
- Schedule: Mondays 9AM - 4:30PM (or by request)
- Includes stops at Caye Caulker (lunch on own), Hol Chan Marine Park and Shark Ray Alley
- $75 USD per person plus $10 Hol Chan Park Fee
- 6 person minimum per trip
1/2 Day Snorkel to Hol Chan Marine Park and Shark Ray Alley
- Schedule: Wednesdays 9AM - 11:30 AM (or by request)
- Includes stop at Hol Chan Marine Park & Shark Ray Alley
- $35 USD per person plus $10 Hol Chan Park Fee
- 6 person minimum per trip
Sirena Azul Sunset Sail
- Schedule: Fridays 4:30 - 7:00 PM (or by request)
- $50 per person
- Includes Soda, Water, Belikin Beer and Belize's famous "Panty Rippers"
- 6 person minimum per trip
